Want some information on stage 4 of non-small cell cancer of the lung (cancer) that my mother inlaw.?
She was diagnosed with a week ago after going to the doctor with severe back pain. His back was bothering you for a while, but only bacam unbearable. She had lost about 40 pounds over a period of four months. When back pain is a serious went to the hospital and come to discover that she has the lungs (causing no pain in the lungs) … and has spread to his back .. (there is much pain) and are not sure yet if it is anywhere else. said the stage 4, wasn't surgery as an option to make the mass in the lungs was too close to his heart, the radiation on her spine as possible to reduce the cancer is not to alleviate some pain. He said it is likely a year with treatments, but more like 6 months or less given their general health condition at present. There is nothing that is can you do? clinical trials? Natural medicine? Does anyone know someone who lived more than that on a given treatment or have any suggestions.
A second opinion is always a good idea. I would suggest contacting MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. Also Sloan Kettering in New York. These are the top two cancer hospitals in the U.S.. and is consistently ranked 1 and two in the polls may sound crazy to travel to another city for a second opinion, but these are the places doing the tests that the other hospitals to use in the future. They also know that other places around the country could be doing tests for this tumor type and tumor stage. In the end, probably not much that can be done in terms of cure, so we need to ask the question that concern both the quality of life versus quantity of life. If a certain treatment may prolong survival at 3 months, but it's just feeling sick then this could be something I could not choose. Ask hard questions. Not be afraid to be blunt. Some doctors are afraid to tell someone bad news. You must ask what is in their mind. Write down questions in advance. Take notes during consultations. Do not be afraid to ask doctors to repeat answers or explain in more detail if you do not understand. No I want to sound morbid at this stage, but do not wait too long for the involvement of hospice. My father died of (non-small cell lung CA with metasteses brain) cancer last year and am very familiar with hospitals are the best. We went to MD Anderson after I did all my research. I am very grateful we did, because I think he got one more year, but more importantly it had an additional year of quality of life. Most people do not know that the insurance usually pays for these visits. All people have to do is pay to get there, but this is life and death and I can not stress enough how much better of these two hospitals in what is in his hometown (I think Anderson is the best of both) My only regret is that hospice involved a little too late. They are very valuable resource. Good luck PS: Beware of "natural remedies" These scams are 99%. If they worked then, researchers at cancer centers would be legitimate use. After all, a natural miracle cure probably receive the Nobel Prize. So, all these are to get $ $ for the sellers of snake oil trade with them on poor desperate people. Just stick to conventional medicine, and of course complimentary treatment (global) can not hurt, only prevent anyone in Mexico or in other dirty small clinics with fantastic claims! They steal the money and break your spirit and give you nothing but lies. I knew enough people to treat me that he had had bad experiences and research I have done my dad. These people are all false
